ClinConnect Summary
The SickKids Team Obesity Management Program (STOMP) is a clinical trial designed to help children and teenagers with severe obesity. This program uses a team approach, meaning that different health professionals work together to provide personalized care. Some participants may even have the option for bariatric surgery, which is a procedure to aid in weight loss. The goal of this trial is to see how effective the STOMP program is in improving the health and well-being of young patients, including their weight management and emotional support.
To participate in this study, children and teens aged 12 to 18 who have a body mass index (BMI) higher than the 95th percentile for their age may be eligible. If they join the STOMP program, they can expect frequent visits, a tailored care plan, and support from a dedicated nurse practitioner to help their families navigate the challenges of obesity. This trial is important because it aims to gather valuable information that can guide better practices for treating severe obesity in young people.
