ClinConnect Summary
The SmartCrisis 2.0 clinical trial is studying a new way to help prevent suicidal thoughts and behaviors using a smartphone app. This study is focused on patients who have a history of suicidal behavior and are receiving treatment at the University Hospital Fundación Jiménez Díaz. Participants will be randomly assigned to two groups: one group will use a special app called 'SmartSafe' along with their regular treatment, while the other group will continue with their usual care without the app. The goal is to see if the app can make a difference in preventing suicidal thoughts.
To join the trial, participants should be between the ages of 65 and 74, have experienced thoughts of suicide recently, and be fluent in Spanish. They also need to own a smartphone with internet access. During the study, participants will have regular check-ins with their psychiatrist, and those in the intervention group will use the app to help track and manage their feelings. This study has received ethical approval and aims to share its findings with the medical community in the future.
