ClinConnect Summary
The TIPS trial is studying how telehealth services can help improve mental health care for people at risk of suicide who visit emergency departments (EDs). By using video calls or phone consultations during their visit, the researchers want to see if they can provide better support and follow-up care for patients who may not have easy access to mental health resources. The goal is to find out if this approach not only helps the patients but also improves how the emergency department operates in terms of patient care.
To participate in this study, individuals need to be over 18 years old and either show signs of suicide risk when they arrive at the ED or be recommended for a mental health evaluation by the medical team. The study is currently looking for participants living in Massachusetts. Those who join can expect to receive mental health evaluations and potentially helpful follow-up support over the phone after their emergency visit. This trial aims to not only provide immediate help but also to understand how to effectively implement these telehealth services in the long term.
