ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at two different surgical techniques for patients with lumbar degenerative disease, which is a condition that affects the lower back. The goal is to compare how these two approaches—pre sympathetic plexus and post sympathetic plexus—affect the risk of damage to the sympathetic nervous system during surgery. Essentially, the researchers want to find out if one method is safer than the other regarding this potential risk.
To be eligible for the trial, participants need to be adults between 18 and 75 years old who require surgery to fuse one or two segments of their lower spine (from L2 to S1) due to degeneration. However, individuals who have had previous back surgeries, have significant muscle weakness, or have certain medical conditions like depression, cancer, or infections will not be included. Participants can expect to undergo one of the two surgical methods and be monitored for their recovery and any side effects. This study is currently recruiting participants, and anyone interested will need to discuss their eligibility with their healthcare provider.
