ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying a method called the Eleveld TCI model, which helps doctors safely give a medication called propofol during surgery, especially for patients who are obese. The goal is to see how well this model works in predicting the right amount of propofol needed for these patients. The trial will involve 36 participants who are 18 years and older, have a body mass index (BMI) over 25, and are scheduled for elective or emergency surgery that will take about an hour.
Participants in the trial will receive propofol through a specialized delivery method during their surgery, and doctors will take blood samples to measure how much of the drug is in their system. This information will help improve how anesthesia is given to obese patients in the future, making it safer and more effective. It's important to note that individuals who are taking certain sedative medications or are seriously ill will not be eligible for this study.
