ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at ways to help patients quit smoking before they have surgery. Specifically, it's examining whether a more intense support program is better at helping smokers stop compared to a shorter, simpler program. The study involves patients who are scheduled for either orthopedic surgery (like joint replacements) or general and urological surgeries.
To participate, you need to be at least 18 years old and a smoker, with surgery planned for at least four weeks after you join the study. Unfortunately, if you are pregnant or already receiving treatment to quit smoking, you won't be able to participate. If you decide to join, you will be placed in one of two groups, either receiving the intensive support or the brief intervention, and you'll receive follow-up check-ins through phone calls to monitor your progress. It's a great opportunity to get support for quitting smoking, especially before an important surgery!
