ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is focused on preventing suicide among young people aged 15 to 24 who are experiencing homelessness and dealing with substance use issues. Researchers want to see if a specific type of therapy called Cognitive Therapy for Suicide Prevention (CTSP), combined with regular support services, is more effective than just the usual services in reducing thoughts of suicide. The trial aims to track changes in suicidal thoughts, substance use, and feelings of depression over a year.
To take part in this study, young people must be between 15 and 24 years old, have experienced homelessness, and have either had serious thoughts of suicide or attempted suicide within the past year. They should also have used alcohol or drugs at least four times in the last month. Participants will receive support from outreach workers and will be monitored for changes over three, six, nine, and twelve months. It's important to note that those who need immediate psychiatric care won't be eligible for this trial. The goal is to find effective ways to help these vulnerable youth and make a positive difference in their lives.
