ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is studying whether using a special type of drainage, called subcutaneous drainage, can help prevent infections in surgical wounds after abdominal surgery. Surgical site infections (SSIs) are a common problem, especially in wounds that are considered contaminated or infected. The trial will compare two groups of patients: one group will have this drainage placed in their wounds, while the other group will not. The goal is to see if the drainage can lower the number of infections in those with more serious wounds.

To participate in this study, you need to be at least 18 years old and have had abdominal surgery that resulted in a contaminated or infected wound. Unfortunately, there are certain people who cannot take part, including those with specific medical conditions or who have had other surgeries recently. If you join the trial, you’ll be monitored after your surgery to track any signs of infection, helping researchers understand the potential benefits of using this drainage technique. The trial is currently not looking for participants, but it aims to gather important information to improve surgical care in the future.
