Tranexamic Acid Effect Polytrauma Pediatric

ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is studying the effects of a medication called tranexamic acid in children who have experienced severe injuries known as polytrauma. Researchers want to find out if giving this medication within three hours of the injury can help reduce death rates and the amount of blood transfusions needed for these young patients. The study will involve children aged 2 to 18 years who have a specific injury severity score, which indicates how serious their injuries are.

To participate in this trial, children must have a high enough injury severity score (16 or higher) and cannot have certain health conditions, such as bleeding disorders or cancers, that could affect the results. The trial is not yet recruiting participants, but once it starts, eligible children will receive either tranexamic acid or standard care. This research is important because it could improve treatment for critically injured children and help save lives.
