ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying a new system designed to assess balance in teenagers with Adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis (AIS), a condition where the spine curves abnormally. The researchers want to see how reliable this new balance assessment system is in measuring postural stability, which is how well someone can maintain their position while standing or moving. The trial will involve participants undergoing several balance tests using this system, which includes standing still and moving their body in specific ways to see how well they can maintain their balance.
To be eligible for the study, participants need to be between the ages of 12 and 18 and have been diagnosed with AIS by a doctor, with a specific measurement of spinal curvature that is less than 40 degrees. Those with certain other health conditions, recent injuries, or surgeries affecting balance will not be included. Participants can expect to take part in tests lasting about 30 seconds, repeated three times with breaks in between, and will return a week later to see if the results are consistent. This study aims to improve our understanding of balance in young people with scoliosis and how it may be evaluated more effectively.
