ClinConnect Summary
The GUM Remote Testing v4.0 clinical trial is designed to compare two types of blood tests for detecting infections like HIV, syphilis, hepatitis B, and hepatitis C. In this study, researchers will look at results from a small blood sample taken from a fingertip (capillary blood) and compare it to results from a larger blood sample taken from a vein (venous blood). This comparison will help understand if the smaller sample can provide accurate results, making testing easier for patients in the future.
To be eligible for this trial, participants need to be adults who are willing to give their consent to join the study. They should already have a venous blood sample taken as part of their routine medical care. The trial is not yet recruiting participants, but it is open to all genders within the specified age range of 65 to 74 years. If you decide to participate, you can expect to provide a small finger prick sample in addition to your regular blood test. This research could lead to more convenient testing options, which is an important step in managing these infections.
