ClinConnect Summary
This trial, called WATSOCPAP, tests whether a nurse-led physical activity program that uses a wearable activity tracker can help women who have survived breast cancer become more active and improve their overall quality of life. It is a randomized study being conducted at Istanbul Medipol University Hospital in Istanbul, Turkey. Eligible participants are women aged 18–65 who finished active cancer treatment in the past five years, have no signs of cancer returning, currently do less than 150 minutes per week of moderate-to-vigorous activity, and have a smartphone with internet access and live in Istanbul.
Participants are randomly assigned to either the intervention or usual care. The intervention group gets a personalized exercise plan, an activity tracker, and nurse coaching based on Social Cognitive Theory for 12 weeks, starting with a face-to-face session and followed by weekly text messages and online check-ins. The control group receives standard care. All participants complete assessments at baseline, 12 weeks, and 24 weeks to measure physical activity, quality of life, weight, fatigue, and other related factors. The study is currently enrolling (NCT06248918) with an estimated completion around October 2024.
