ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying the best way to help patients recover after having a total knee replacement surgery, specifically comparing two types of fluid replacement: drinking fluids (oral) versus receiving fluids through an IV (intravenous). The main question is whether drinking fluids after surgery helps patients recover faster than getting fluids through an IV.
To participate in this study, you need to be between 40 and 85 years old and have primary osteoarthritis affecting your knee. You also should be in good health (classified as ASA I or II). However, if you take certain medications like diuretics, are very overweight, have had previous knee surgery, or cannot have spinal anesthesia, you won't be eligible for this trial. If you join, you can expect to be part of a group that will help researchers understand which method of fluid replacement is more effective for recovery after knee surgery. This study is currently looking for participants, and your involvement could contribute to improving care for future patients.
