ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is investigating a new method for predicting and understanding a painful condition called radiation-induced oropharyngeal mucositis, which can occur in patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma (a type of throat cancer) undergoing radiation treatment. The researchers want to see if a special way of measuring the mucosa— the moist tissue in the throat—can help better predict how severe this condition might be and how it relates to pain when swallowing.
To participate in the study, you must be at least 18 years old, have a confirmed diagnosis of nasopharyngeal carcinoma, and be currently receiving radiation or chemoradiotherapy. You will need to be able to provide consent and have detailed records of your mucositis and any pain you experience while swallowing. Participants will be closely monitored throughout the study, and it aims to improve the understanding and management of this common side effect of cancer treatment. If you have any ongoing serious health conditions or certain dental issues, you may not be eligible.
