ClinConnect Summary

The Chatsafe Netherlands trial is looking at how young people, aged 16 to 25, talk about suicide on social media and whether a special set of guidelines can help them communicate more safely. Suicide is a serious issue for young people in the Netherlands, and while social media can offer support, it can also sometimes promote harmful messages. The #Chatsafe guidelines, which were developed in Australia, aim to teach young people how to discuss suicide in a way that is safe and supportive. This study will see if these guidelines work well for Dutch young people, similar to how they were tested in Australia.

To participate in this study, you need to be between 16 and 25 years old, live in the Netherlands, speak Dutch, and be an active user of social media. There are no exclusions based on whether you have thoughts about self-harm; as long as you meet the criteria, you can join. Participants will be monitored carefully to ensure their safety throughout the study. This is a chance to help improve how young people talk about such a critical topic online and to contribute to important research in suicide prevention.
