ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying a new way to help people who have recently thought about or attempted suicide. The researchers want to see if a program called Brief Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Suicide Prevention (BCBT-SP), delivered online, can prevent future suicide attempts. They are looking for 364 participants aged 16 and older who live in the Netherlands and have experienced suicidal thoughts or behaviors in the past month. This study is important because many online programs so far have only helped reduce suicidal thoughts but not the actual attempts, which is a major concern.
If you join the study, you will be randomly assigned to either the BCBT-SP program or a different online self-help course that has shown some success in reducing suicidal thoughts. Throughout the study, you will fill out surveys about your experiences, thoughts, and feelings at the beginning, right after the treatment, and again after 18 months. This research could lead to better support for those struggling with suicidal thoughts and behaviors and might show that online help can be effective in preventing suicide attempts.
