ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is studying the impact of a special cleaning solution called super-oxidised solution on patients who have surgery for a condition known as peritonitis, which is an infection in the abdominal area. The trial will compare this new solution to normal salt water (saline) during the washing of the abdomen and surgical wounds to see if it can help prevent infections after surgery. Patients will be randomly placed into one of two groups: one group will receive the super-oxidised solution, while the other group will receive the saline. Both patients and doctors involved in the care will not know which solution a patient is receiving to ensure a fair comparison.

To participate in this trial, individuals must be at least 13 years old, undergoing a certain type of surgery called midline laparotomy for a perforated organ, and have a certain level of health (ASA 3 or below). However, some people won't be eligible, such as those who have had previous abdominal surgery recently or those with specific health issues like kidney failure. Participants will help researchers learn more about the effectiveness of the super-oxidised solution, and their involvement could contribute to better treatments for future patients facing similar surgeries.
