ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying the effectiveness of different types of electrical stimulation in helping elderly patients with constipation prepare for a colonoscopy. The researchers want to see if using a special external device that stimulates the gastrointestinal tract can improve how clean the intestines are before the procedure. Participants will be divided into four groups: one group will receive both types of stimulation, another will receive just the gastrointestinal stimulation, a third group will receive just the acupoint stimulation (a type of electrical treatment), and the last group will not receive any stimulation. Everyone will also take a medication to help cleanse the intestines.
To participate in this trial, you need to be between 60 and 80 years old and scheduled for a colonoscopy due to constipation. However, certain health conditions like severe heart issues or recent major surgeries may prevent you from joining. If you decide to participate, you will undergo assessments to see how well your intestines are cleaned, which is important for the success of the colonoscopy. This study aims to find better ways to help elderly patients prepare for this important test, ensuring they have a smoother experience.
