ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying the use of ketamine combined with propofol for sedation in patients who have experienced severe traumatic brain injuries (TBI). The goal is to see if this combination is safe and effective compared to the usual sedation methods currently used in the intensive care unit (ICU). Participants in this trial will be monitored closely to ensure their safety and comfort as they recover.
To be eligible for this study, participants must be adults aged 18 to 65 who have a severe TBI, indicated by a low score on the Glasgow Coma Scale (which measures consciousness). They also need to have an intracranial pressure monitor placed to track brain pressure. However, individuals with serious heart problems, pregnant women, prisoners, or those allergic to ketamine or propofol cannot participate. If someone joins the trial, they can expect to receive sedation through the study drugs while being carefully looked after in the ICU.
