ClinConnect Summary

The CaMaPi trial is looking into a new way to help adolescents and young people, aged 16 to 24, who have experienced self-harm or have thoughts of suicide. This research is taking place in Jos, Nigeria, and aims to find out how to better support those who are struggling with these serious issues. The trial is not yet recruiting participants, but when it starts, it will focus on young people who visit certain hospitals or services in the area after a self-harm incident or who reach out for help on their own.

To be eligible for this trial, participants must be living in the local area and should not require inpatient psychiatric treatment, meaning they don’t need to stay overnight in a hospital for their mental health. However, those with severe mental illnesses, like psychotic disorders, or who cannot engage in the study for other reasons, will not be included. If someone joins the trial, they can expect to take part in assessments and interventions aimed at improving their mental health and well-being. This research could play an important role in developing effective support for young people facing these challenges.
