ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying a new way to diagnose a condition called preterm premature rupture of membranes (PPROM), which happens when a pregnant woman's water breaks early, before labor starts. Accurate diagnosis is essential to ensure the health of both the mother and the baby. The trial is exploring the use of transperineal ultrasound, a non-invasive imaging technique that can provide clear information without the need for a physical examination that often causes anxiety. This approach aims to make the assessment of PPROM easier and less stressful for pregnant women.
To participate in this trial, women must be between 24 to 37 weeks pregnant and have experienced signs that suggest their water may have broken, such as a sudden gush or continuous leakage of fluid. However, women who are in active labor, have vaginal bleeding, or certain other medical conditions will not be eligible to join. Those who do participate can expect a gentle ultrasound procedure that helps doctors confirm whether they have PPROM, providing peace of mind and potentially better care for both mother and baby.
