ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying the use of antibiotics after subtalar fusion surgery, which is a procedure to treat problems in the foot that can cause pain and difficulty moving. The goal is to see whether taking antibiotics for just 24 hours after surgery is as effective as taking them for 5 days in preventing infections at the surgery site. This is important because infections can lead to complications and longer recovery times.
To participate in this trial, you need to be an adult between 18 and 60 years old with a specific type of arthritis in your foot called posttraumatic subtalar osteoarthritis. However, if you have certain health issues like diabetes, have had previous foot surgeries, or have any infections or wounds near the area being treated, you won’t be eligible. If you join the trial, you'll be closely monitored to see how well the different antibiotic schedules work in preventing infections after your surgery. This study is currently not recruiting participants, so more information will be available soon.
