ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is testing a short therapy designed to help reduce thoughts of suicide in young people aged 12 to 17 who are experiencing anxiety or depression. The goal is to see if this therapy can lessen not only suicidal thoughts but also feelings of being a burden to others, which can often contribute to these thoughts. By participating in this study, the hope is to provide mental health providers with a new, effective tool to help youth in our communities.
To be eligible for this trial, participants must be between 12 and 17 years old and must show signs of needing help, such as scoring high on a specific questionnaire about feeling like a burden or having thoughts of suicide. However, those with serious cognitive challenges, immediate risk of harming themselves or others, or those already receiving certain treatments will not be included. If chosen to participate, youths can expect to engage in a brief therapy session and complete some questionnaires to share their experiences and feelings. This study is currently recruiting participants and aims to contribute valuable insights into supporting young people facing these challenges.
