ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is focused on improving how doctors and healthcare providers identify and help young people at risk of suicide. With suicide being the second leading cause of death among youth in the United States, it's crucial to find effective ways to support those in need. The study will test a special program designed to help primary care providers (PCPs) better use tools for screening and managing youth suicide risk. The goal is to see if this program makes it easier for doctors to use a new care pathway that includes important steps like assessing risk, creating safety plans, and making referrals to mental health services. We believe that with this extra support, doctors will feel more confident and capable in helping their patients.
To be part of this study, young people aged 12 to 24 who are visiting a participating primary care provider for a routine check-up can take part if they show signs of suicide risk during a screening. Both the young patients and the healthcare staff will be involved in the study, which is not yet recruiting participants. Those eligible can expect to contribute to important research that could lead to better support for youth dealing with suicidal thoughts or behaviors. Ultimately, the trial aims to reduce the likelihood of suicide attempts and improve access to mental health care for young people.
