ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how the ability of the eyes to extract oxygen changes as people age. Researchers want to understand if healthy individuals of different ages have different levels of retinal oxygen extraction, which is important because problems with this process can be linked to various eye and health conditions. The study will also look at how breathing pure oxygen for a short time affects the eyes' metabolism. To gather this information, the researchers will use special tools to measure blood flow and oxygen levels in the retina, which is the light-sensitive layer at the back of the eye.
To participate in this study, you need to be a healthy adult between 18 and 80 years old, and you should not smoke or have any significant health issues. Both men and women can join, but you should not have participated in another clinical trial in the past three weeks or have any recent health concerns. If you decide to join, you will be asked to sign a consent form and undergo some non-invasive tests to help researchers learn more about how aging affects the eyes. This trial is currently recruiting participants, and your involvement could contribute valuable insights into eye health as we age.
