ClinConnect Summary
The Project SAFER trial is studying a digital tool called a Safety Planning Intervention (SPI) designed to help adolescents who have experienced thoughts of suicide or suicide attempts. This online program aims to provide young people with personalized strategies and resources to manage their feelings during tough times. The hope is that by using this self-guided tool, teens can feel more empowered to handle crises and reduce their suicidal thoughts and behaviors over a three-month period.
To be eligible for the study, participants need to be between 13 and 24 years old, able to read and write in English, and have internet access. They should have experienced suicidal thoughts in the past month or have made a suicide attempt in the past year. During the trial, participants will use the digital safety plan and may be asked to complete some follow-up assessments. This study is significant because it explores a new way to support adolescents at risk for suicide, especially those who may feel uncomfortable seeking traditional help.
