ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying a new type of therapy called the Socio-Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Suicidal Behaviors (SCBTSB), designed to help young people in Mexico City who are experiencing thoughts of suicide or have made suicide attempts. The goal is to adapt this therapy to fit the cultural context of Mexico and to see how well it works when tested with local youth. The researchers will be comparing this new therapy to standard care to understand its effectiveness.
To be eligible for this study, participants need to be between the ages of 12 and 17 and must have severe suicidal thoughts, which can be measured using a specific scale. They should not be receiving mental health services from another provider. However, individuals with certain mental health disorders, like psychosis or severe substance use issues, cannot participate. If someone joins the study, they can expect to receive the new therapy along with support and guidance throughout the process, and the researchers will also look at how well this new approach can be used in the health system.
