ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how two different types of exercise training—strength training and plyometric training—affect young swimmers’ performance. Strength training focuses on building muscle power, while plyometric training involves quick, jumping-type movements to improve explosive strength. The study will look at how these exercises, combined with regular swim training, might change swimming speed, stroke rate, and overall performance in a short 50-meter sprint.
The study is open to swimmers aged 10 to 17 who have at least three years of competitive swimming experience and have competed in qualifying competitions before. Participants will be randomly placed into one of two groups: one doing strength exercises plus swim training, and the other doing plyometric exercises plus swim training. Both groups will train twice a week for eight weeks. Before and after the training, researchers will measure how the swimmers perform and move in the water. To join, swimmers must be healthy without ongoing medical conditions that need regular check-ups, and parental permission is required. This study aims to find out which type of training might best help young competitive swimmers improve their speed and technique.
