ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is studying how two different ways of helping patients breathe during the start of anesthesia affect surgery for the colon and rectum using robotic tools. The researchers want to find out if using a mask to help with breathing—or not using one—changes how much the stomach and intestines expand, and whether this makes it easier or harder for surgeons to see and work during the operation. They think that not using a mask might lead to less stomach and bowel swelling and better visibility for the surgeons.

The study is looking for adults between 18 and 80 years old who are scheduled for robotic colorectal surgery. People with certain lung, heart, or allergy issues won’t be able to join. If you take part, you will be placed in one of two groups: one where you get gentle breathing support with a mask right after anesthesia starts, and one where you don’t get mask breathing support but will be intubated (a tube placed to help breathing) shortly after. The researchers will then compare how these two methods affect the surgery. This study is still recruiting participants and aims to improve surgical outcomes by finding the best way to manage breathing during anesthesia.
