ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying new tools designed to help doctors better understand and predict suicide risk in Spanish-speaking adults who have recently been hospitalized after a suicidal crisis. The researchers want to see if these tools, called the Suicide Crisis Inventory-Revised (SCS-2) and the Suicidal Crisis Syndrome Checklist (SCS-C), work well for patients in Chile by comparing them with other established tests. This is important because it helps ensure that the tools are accurate and reliable for identifying people who might be at immediate risk of suicide.
Adults who are currently in a psychiatric intensive care unit in Chile because of a recent suicidal event—such as self-harm with suicidal intent, suicide attempts, or serious thoughts of suicide—may be eligible to join. Participants will be asked to complete the SCS-2 and SCS-C questionnaires when they enter the hospital and again before they leave. They will also take part in interviews and assessments conducted by two different healthcare professionals to check consistency. After discharge, they will be contacted twice within the first month to see how they are doing. This study is the first of its kind in Latin America to adapt and test these specific suicide risk tools, aiming to improve care and support for people facing suicidal crises.
