ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is testing a new program designed to help young adults aged 18 to 29 quit smoking cigarettes. The program uses a special approach called the Multi-Theory Model (MTM), which focuses on building confidence, managing emotions, and changing both behavior and surroundings to support quitting. The researchers want to see if this approach helps more people stop smoking compared to a standard education program that simply shares information about the risks of smoking and available quitting tools.
If you join the study, you’ll be randomly placed into one of two groups. One group will attend four weekly online sessions that include interactive activities focused on motivation, emotional support, and practical strategies for quitting. The other group will attend four online sessions that provide information about smoking risks and quitting options. You’ll be asked to complete surveys about your smoking habits and feelings before the program starts, right after it ends, and again after 12 weeks. There’s also an option to confirm quitting by a simple breath test. This study is done entirely online, making it easy to participate from home. It’s important to note that this trial is for cigarette smokers who live in the U.S., smoke daily, and are not using other tobacco products or involved in other quitting programs. The goal is to find better ways to help young adults successfully quit smoking and stay smoke-free for good.
