ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is looking at a new device designed to help clear surgical drains, which are small tubes placed in the abdomen after surgery to remove fluids and help healing. The study aims to see how well this device works and how easy it is for nurses and care staff to use it when taking care of patients with these drains.

Adults aged 18 and older who are having abdominal surgery with a specific type of drain called a Jackson-Pratt drain may be eligible to join. To participate, patients need to be able to give their consent, meaning they understand the study and agree to take part. If you join, you can expect the care team to use this new device to help manage your drain and provide feedback on how it works. Nurses at the Mayo Clinic who care for patients with these drains will also be involved to share their experience using the device. This study has not started recruiting yet, but it hopes to improve care for patients with surgical drains by making drain clearing easier and safer.
