ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying a new computer program designed to help doctors quickly and accurately find infections that can happen after planned colorectal surgery, which is surgery on the large intestine or rectum. Usually, medical teams have to spend a lot of time manually checking for these infections, called surgical site infections (SSIs). This study wants to see if the new program can do this job more efficiently by automatically spotting infections using health data.
People who might take part are adults aged 65 to 74 who are having planned colorectal surgery. To be eligible, participants should not have had emergency surgery, an infection at the time of their operation, or a previous intestinal stoma (an opening made to the outside of the body). If you join, your medical information will be used to test how well the program detects infections after your surgery. This study is currently looking for volunteers and aims to improve how hospitals watch for and respond to infections after surgery, potentially making care safer and faster for future patients.
