ClinConnect Summary
This study is looking at how the shape of the foot and the strength of the toe muscles affect balance in teenagers. Our feet are very important for walking and staying steady, and strong toe muscles help with both. While this has been studied a lot in adults, we don’t know much about how it works in young people. The researchers want to see if having flat feet (when the arch of the foot is lower than usual) affects toe strength and balance, especially how the body moves forward and backward while standing or walking.
Teenagers between 12 and 18 years old who don’t have recent injuries, ongoing pain, or certain conditions like scoliosis (a curve of the spine) might be able to join. Both the teen and their parent or guardian will need to agree to participate. If chosen, participants will have their foot shape, toe strength, and balance tested to better understand how these factors work together. This study is not yet recruiting, but it aims to help improve knowledge that could support better care for young people with flat feet or balance issues.
