ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is focused on studying filarial infections, which are caused by parasitic worms transmitted through mosquito bites. The researchers aim to understand how the body's immune system responds to these infections and how patients can be effectively treated. People aged between 3 and 100 years who have been diagnosed with or are suspected of having a filarial infection, such as Wuchereria bancrofti or Onchocerca volvulus, may be eligible to participate.
Participants in the study will undergo routine tests to identify the specific type of infection, which may include skin or lung examinations. While the study doesn’t involve experimental treatments, it will include some additional procedures, like extra blood tests and skin tests to check for allergies. Treatment will be provided using standard medications once the diagnosis is confirmed. Participants can expect more frequent check-ups and follow-ups than usual as part of the study. If you or someone you know might be eligible, this could be an important opportunity to contribute to our understanding of these infections.
