ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial, titled "Natural History of Rheumatic Diseases in Minority Communities," aims to understand the causes of rheumatic diseases, such as arthritis, and why they seem to affect certain minority communities more severely. These diseases can cause joint pain, stiffness, and swelling, and can also impact bones, muscles, and the immune system. By gathering information from this study, researchers hope to identify the differences in how these diseases affect minority populations and develop more focused research projects to address these disparities.
To participate in this study, you must be 18 years or older and have a known or suspected rheumatic disease. If eligible, you'll receive standard medical care for your condition, which may include routine blood tests, urine tests, and imaging tests like X-rays to check for any abnormalities. Importantly, there are no experimental treatments involved; the focus is on understanding your condition better. Your medical information will be kept confidential, and if you qualify for other research studies at the National Institutes of Health (NIH), you may be invited to participate in those as well.
