ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying the different proteins found in the lungs of patients with pneumonia. Pneumonia is an illness that causes inflammation in the lungs, often due to an infection, and can be diagnosed through chest X-rays and physical exams. However, these methods do not reveal what specifically causes the inflammation. By examining lung proteins, researchers hope to identify which proteins are linked to certain types of pneumonia. This could help in developing better treatments for the disease.
To participate in the study, patients must be undergoing a procedure called bronchoscopy, which involves using a thin tube to look at the lungs, and a rinse of the airways to collect fluid for testing. Participants will also provide a small blood sample for comparison. The study is open to individuals aged 3 to 100 years old, and consent can be given by a parent or guardian for younger participants. If you are interested in this study or have questions, please talk to your healthcare provider for more information.
