ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is looking at how heart cells from newborns and infants work differently than those from adults, especially in children with congenital heart disease, like Tetralogy of Fallot. Researchers will use small pieces of heart tissue taken during necessary surgeries to study how calcium ions, which help control heart contractions, move in and out of these cells. They believe that the way infant hearts manage calcium is different from adult hearts, and understanding this could help improve treatments. Additionally, the study will explore new ways to grow heart cells in the lab that can better mimic how real heart cells behave.

To participate in this study, patients must be undergoing specific heart surgeries, like repairing congenital heart defects, and they must not have had prior heart surgery or a history of certain heart conditions. This trial is currently recruiting participants of all ages, and anyone who joins can expect to contribute to important research that may help improve heart health for future patients.
