ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is focused on studying the eye condition known as retinitis pigmentosa, which is a type of inherited retinal degeneration. The researchers want to learn more about how the retina (the light-sensitive layer at the back of the eye) works and looks in high detail using a special tool called the Adaptive Optics Scanning Laser Ophthalmoscope (AOSLO). This tool will help them capture very clear images of the retina to better understand the changes that occur in patients with this condition.
To participate in the trial, you need to be between 47 and 48 years old, be able to speak and understand English, and have pupils that can dilate to at least 6 millimeters. It's important to note that participants will need to travel to the University of California, Berkeley, and will be responsible for their own travel expenses if they're not local residents. Some people may not be eligible if they have certain eye conditions like cataracts or have had previous eye surgeries. If you join the study, you can expect to undergo eye examinations that will help researchers gain valuable insights into inherited retinal diseases.
