ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying the genetic causes of certain types of pituitary tumors, including conditions like acromegaly and gigantism. Researchers want to identify new genes that might increase the risk of developing these tumors, particularly in families where multiple members are affected. The study will start with patients who have a strong family history of pituitary tumors, and it will expand to include other cases as well.
To participate in the trial, individuals should have a family history of acromegaly or other pituitary tumors, have been diagnosed with early onset acromegaly, or have a sporadic (randomly occurring) pituitary tumor. If you decide to join, your doctor will explain the study and help you through the process, which involves providing a blood sample and possibly sharing information about family members who might also participate. Researchers will analyze the samples to look for genetic factors that contribute to these conditions. Your involvement could help improve understanding and treatment for future patients with similar issues.
