ClinConnect Summary
The APACE Study is a clinical trial designed to improve how doctors diagnose serious heart conditions, specifically acute coronary syndromes (like heart attacks and unstable angina) in patients who come to the emergency room with chest pain. The goal of this study is to see if taking a detailed patient history and using new blood tests can help doctors more quickly identify or rule out a heart attack, particularly within the first few hours after chest pain starts. This is important because the first few hours are critical for effective treatment.
If you or someone you know has chest pain that started within the last 12 hours and is experiencing symptoms like angina (chest discomfort) at rest or with minimal exertion, you might be eligible to participate in this study. Participants will provide blood samples to test for new heart markers and will be followed up with phone calls at 3, 12, 24, and 60 months to check on their health and any heart-related events they may experience. The study is currently recruiting patients of all genders aged 65 to 74. It's a chance to contribute to important research that could help improve heart attack detection and treatment in the future.
