ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is studying blood samples from men with prostate cancer to learn more about how certain genetic differences might affect the progression of the disease. Specifically, researchers want to find out why some prostate cancers stop responding to standard treatments that block hormones, a condition known as androgen independence. By examining these genetic differences, they hope to understand why some men experience more aggressive forms of prostate cancer than others.

To participate in this study, you need to be a man aged 18 or older who has been diagnosed with prostate cancer. Participants will visit the NCI Medical Oncology Clinic, where blood samples will be collected either during their first visit or at follow-up appointments. From these samples, researchers will analyze genetic material and white blood cells to help identify how different genes may relate to the progression of prostate cancer. It's important to note that this study is currently recruiting participants, and children are not eligible to take part. Your involvement could help improve understanding of prostate cancer and potentially lead to better treatments in the future.
