ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is comparing two different surgical methods for treating certain digestive conditions, specifically recurrent diverticular disease, benign polyps, and early-stage tumors in the sigmoid part of the intestine. The two techniques being tested are laparoscopic-assisted rectosigmoid resection, where small incisions are made, and a newer method that uses both laparoscopic and transrectal approaches, allowing the surgeon to remove the tissue through the rectum. The goal is to see which method works better and how patients recover after surgery.
To participate in this study, individuals need to be between 18 and 90 years old and have one of the conditions mentioned. They should be in good enough health to undergo laparoscopic surgery, which means they should not have severe health issues or be pregnant. Participants will receive care following a program designed to help them recover quickly after surgery. It's important to know that this study is in the recruitment phase, meaning they are looking for volunteers to join and help researchers understand these surgical options better.
