ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial, titled "Genetics of Obesity in Chinese Youngs," is studying the genetic factors that may contribute to obesity and metabolic syndrome, which is a group of conditions that increase the risk of heart disease and diabetes. The goal of the research is to better understand why some people are more prone to obesity and to support the development of more effective treatments for those affected.
To participate in this study, individuals must be between 18 and 60 years old and have a body mass index (BMI) of 30 or higher, which indicates obesity. Participants should also be living in eastern China to ensure the study results are reliable. However, those who are pregnant or breastfeeding, have certain medical conditions like Cushing syndrome or hypothyroidism, or have a history of serious mental illness will not be eligible. If you join the study, you can expect to provide informed consent and participate in assessments that will help researchers learn more about the genetic causes of obesity. Your involvement could play a crucial role in advancing treatment options for obesity and metabolic syndrome in the future.
