ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is focused on studying a type of brain tumor called diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma (DIPG) and other related brainstem gliomas in children and young people. The main goal is to collect samples from patients, either during their treatment or after they have passed away, to better understand the genetic changes that occur in these tumors. By analyzing these samples, researchers hope to learn more about how these tumors develop and find new ways to treat them.
To be eligible for this trial, patients of any age must have a confirmed diagnosis of DIPG or other high-grade gliomas that start in the brainstem. This includes patients with specific types of lower-grade tumors in that area. However, patients with other types of brain tumors that do not originate in the brainstem are not eligible. Participants in the study can expect to provide samples which will help researchers gain valuable insights into these difficult-to-treat tumors, potentially leading to improved treatment options in the future.

Eligibility criteria
- Inclusion Criteria:
- • Patients of any age with clinical and radiologic diagnosis of diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma
- • Patients with other high-grade gliomas originating in the brainstem
- • Patients with focal gliomas (WHO grade I/II) of the brainstem
- Exclusion Criteria:
- • Patients with any type of infiltrative low grade (WHO grade I and II) or high grade glioma (WHO grade III and IV) originating outside the brainstem
- • Patients harboring primary brainstem tumors with other histologic diagnoses (e.g., PNET)
