ClinConnect Summary
This is an observational research study led by Reproductive Medicine Associates of New Jersey. It uses donated embryos from IVF to study and improve laboratory methods, especially how embryos are frozen and how scientists check the genes and chromosomes inside embryos. The study will not create embryos, transfer any embryos to people, or develop cell lines or clones. Embryos donated to this study may be kept with DNA for research purposes to help learn more about embryo development and to test the proficiency of the IVF lab staff.
Who can participate? Adults aged 18 to 65 who have cryopreserved (frozen) embryos and do not want to discard them or donate them to another couple. Participation is by invitation, and the study plans to enroll about 5,000 donated embryo cases. The study is conducted in Basking Ridge, New Jersey, at Reproductive Medicine Associates of New Jersey, and is current in enrollment with results not yet reported. If invited to participate, you would be watching how the lab handles embryos and how new techniques might be developed to improve IVF outcomes, rather than receiving any treatment yourself.
