ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking to compare two different treatments for preventing bleeding in patients with a serious liver condition called cirrhosis. The researchers want to see if a procedure called endoscopic cyanoacrylate injection (which uses a special glue to close off blood vessels) is more effective than a medication called propranolol, which is a type of beta-blocker that helps reduce blood pressure in the veins. This study is currently recruiting participants who are between the ages of 18 and 80 and have been diagnosed with liver cirrhosis.
To be eligible for this trial, participants should have been diagnosed with liver cirrhosis or liver cancer and must have certain types of varices (enlarged veins in the stomach). However, people who have already undergone specific treatments for their condition or have serious health issues affecting their heart, kidneys, or lungs may not qualify. If you join the study, you will be randomly assigned to receive either the glue treatment or the medication, and you will be monitored to see how well each option works in preventing bleeding. This trial aims to help find the best way to protect patients at risk of serious complications from their liver condition.
