ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at how well minimally invasive surgery of the gastro-esophageal junction (the area where the esophagus meets the stomach) works for patients with conditions like achalasia, paraesophageal hernia, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), epiphrenic diverticula, and Zenker's diverticulum. The goal is to understand both the short-term and long-term outcomes for patients who undergo this type of surgery. Participants will complete questionnaires each year to share how their quality of life and daily function are affected after the surgery, and their medical records will be reviewed to track their health over time.
To be eligible for this study, you must be at least 18 years old and planning to have minimally invasive surgery at the Ottawa Hospital. The trial is currently recruiting patients of all genders aged 65 and older. If you choose to participate, you'll be contributing valuable information that could help improve care for others in the future. It's a great opportunity to share your experiences and help researchers understand the effects of this surgery on people's lives.
