ClinConnect Summary
The PICO Above Incisions After Vascular Surgery trial is studying whether a special treatment called negative pressure wound therapy can help reduce the risk of infections and other complications in surgical wounds after vascular surgery. Previous studies have shown that infections in the groin area after such surgeries can be quite common, affecting nearly 23% of patients. This trial aims to see if using this therapy on closed incisions can lower that infection rate.
To participate in the trial, you need to be at least 18 years old and scheduled for elective (non-emergency) vascular surgery that involves an incision in the groin area. Participants should be able to understand the study details and provide consent. If you're interested, you can expect to receive close monitoring of your wound after surgery and share your experiences, which could help improve care for future patients.
