ClinConnect Summary
The Heart Health Study in Washington D.C. is looking to improve heart health, particularly in the Black community, by creating a weight loss program based in local churches. Researchers will partner with community leaders to gather important health information from adults who attend these churches. They want to understand how factors like diabetes, blood pressure, cholesterol, and weight impact heart health, and they will also explore how technology can help people track their activities and health.
If you're an adult between the ages of 19 and 85 and attend one of the participating churches, you may be eligible to join the study. Participants will have a health exam at their church, which includes checking blood pressure and taking a small blood sample. They will also answer some health questions and wear an activity monitor for a month to track their movement. At the end of the month, participants can keep one of the monitors and may receive a gift card for their involvement. This study aims to gather valuable insights to help improve heart health programs in the community.
